JULY 8, 2011 - ORG DAY

Today was Chris' unit org day.  We went up to Nimitz beach and basically hung out.  There was food, bouncy house for the kids, of course they had cotton candy, a pinata, and the dunk tank.  Rowan really liked throwing those balls and he hit the mark the first ball out.  Rowan even got in the tank himself.  It was very windy day but plenty of sunshine so that the kids could enjoy the beach.  The most exciting part of the day was getting to see a Hawaiian Monk Seal which is endangered.  But we got to see one that had beached himself.  It was so neat to see such a beautiful animal in its natural environment.

Rowan throwing the first ball.

and it hits the mark!

Isabel taking a try and Rowan kept telling her if she keeps missing let him do it.

try try again.

keep trying.

finally Rowan took over because Isabel kept missing

The kids tearing the pinata apart.  When they went to hit the pinata it basically the bottom emptied before the first hit was made so now the kids are tearing it apart.

the Coast Guard plane was landing at the airstrip near us.

The Hawaiian Monk Seal
I was so mad at Chris because he and kids were busy trying to catch crabs that I turned to see what they were doing and the monk seal had disappeared into the ocean. I finally saw him and it was too hard trying to get a picture of him swimming maybe next time. Apparently they come up on the shore quite often.
